A family owned and managed company employing around 200 with six branches and a head office. The company had only been marginally profitable for years before seeking assistance.
The company were involved in vehicle body shop work; a mobility and age care business; light engineering; new & used vehicle sales; car & van repairs; and retail sales.
We reviewed the business structure itself, all the business systems and appraised key staff. We soon saw uneven management and inconsistencies across the business preventing the family from making a success of what was at heart a good business.
We therefore introduced key business disciplines, installed new and wholly integrated accounting and costing systems. The review highlighted the need to close the underperforming new & used car sales business.
To ensure the rest of the business performed better, new monthly management meetings were put in place reviewing management accounts together with KPI reports and assessing follow-up actions. We also introduced quarterly Board meetings for strategic matters. The company has since consistently made sustainable profits.
